Moments That Matter: Celebrating Community, Connection, and Compassion at Seasons Retirement

Seasons Amherstburg Show Us Your Brave Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation

Seasons Retirement Communities’ residents and team members come together to create connections, champion meaningful causes, and celebrate milestones. These stories showcase shared passions by the people who are the heart of our homes. Whether you are curious about life as a resident or considering a career with our caring and dedicated team, here is a glimpse of what truly makes Seasons so special.

Taking a Leap for Cancer Care

When beloved Seasons Amherstburg resident Don shared his desire to honour his late wife Marie, our team rallied behind him. General Manager Tamasin, Leasing Manager Morgan, and Fun Manager Jenn formed “Don’s Angels” and took on the ultimate challenge—repelling 170 feet down the CIBC building in Windsor as part of the Show Us Your Brave initiative. Their courage paid off: they smashed their $4,500 goal, raising nearly $12,500 for the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation. This incredible effort shows what happens when residents and team members unite for a cause—community becomes unstoppable.

Action Creates Safer Streets for All

At Seasons Arbutus, resident Sue turned a vision into reality by leading a two-year effort to improve walkability and safety in her Kitsilano neighbourhood. Thanks to her and a dedicated sub-committee, a new flashing beacon crosswalk was unveiled this Spring, creating a safer space for residents, staff, and the wider community. Sue’s commitment reminds us that when we work together, we can make meaningful changes that benefit everyone—inside and outside Seasons.

Mustang Memories Bring Resident and Team Member Together

At Seasons Belle River, a shared love for Ford Mustangs sparked an unforgettable experience. Resident Paul and team member Tony bonded over their passion for the iconic car, leading to a heartwarming surprise during Global Mustang Week. With Ford of Canada’s support, residents enjoyed a showcase of classic Mustangs and the thrilling Mustang Dark Horse—complete with ties to the local Essex Engine Plant. This special event celebrated connection and nostalgia, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Walking Toward Hope to mark a 99th Birthday

Seasons Cambridge resident Joan inspired everyone around her by turning her 99th birthday into a mission of giving back. Leading her ‘Footsteps for Families’ campaign, Joan walked 99 laps during May to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities, continuing her tradition of giving for three years running. Joan, alongside fellow Seniorosity® members, even delivered Happy Meals to children undergoing care—exceeding her original fundraising goal of $3,099. Her spirit embodies everything Seasons stands for: community, compassion, and making a difference.

Celebrating 65 Years of Love and Wisdom

Residents Horst and Balbine celebrated an incredible milestone at Seasons Drayton Valley—65 years of marriage. Their love story began in 1950s Germany with a chance meeting on a bus and grew through years of letters, a transatlantic move, and a shared life in Canada. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple marked the occasion with a special celebration and words of wisdom: “Choose to stay together, be honest, and trust one another.” A beautiful reminder that true love only grows stronger with time.

Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present

This year, Seasons Dufferin Centre proudly celebrated its 15th anniversary. Once the site of Dufferin Street Public School, the building honours its past through preserved photos and a library named after a former principal. Residents, team members, and local leaders gathered for a special lunch to mark the occasion, reflecting on the site’s evolution from school to community center to Seasons—a place where memories continue to be made every day.

Adventure Has No Age Limit

Seasons High River residents embraced the beauty of the outdoors through the Cycling Without Age program—giving them the bliss of feeling the “wind in their hair.” Longtime resident Brent looked forward to his weekly rides, sharing stories with volunteer pilots while reconnecting with nature. This meaningful experience brought laughter and joy amidst the crisp, fresh air, reminding us that adventure has no age limit.

Generations Unite Enjoying Cherished Time Together

Seasons London celebrated the joy of connection with a series of heartwarming intergenerational events, including “Sundaes and Stories.” Residents partnered with children and caregivers from the Family Centre Westminster’s Ontario Early Years Program to share stories and create delicious sundaes together. These visits brought learning, laughter, and lasting memories—reminding us that when generations come together, something truly remarkable happens.

Making a Move for Love

At Seasons Milton, residents and team members came together for a meaningful Walk for Alzheimer’s, raising an impressive $3,302. Resident Jean led the way, completing three laps in honor of her late husband—a beautiful tribute to love and resilience. The event wrapped up with a lively dance party and heartfelt conversations about the individuals everyone was walking for, reminding us of the power of community and compassion.

Splashing for a Cause

Seasons Owen Sound’s courtyard transformed into a lively celebration during the third annual fundraiser for Second Chance Animal Sanctuary. Residents, families, and team members joined in the fun, with the dunk tank stealing the spotlight and a silent auction adding excitement. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, $2,828 was raised—helping animals in need and displaying the power of community.

Tea, Treats, and Giving Back

Residents and team members at Seasons Ponoka came together for a heartfelt Daffodil Tea fundraiser supporting the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Guests enjoyed tea, sweet treats, and a raffle featuring a homemade lemon meringue pie. The event raised $685 for cancer care and research—a beautiful example of compassion in action.

Making a Difference, One Sandwich at a Time

At Seasons Royal Oak Village, residents and team members prepared and delivered 170 fresh sandwiches to Windsor’s Soup Shack. Led by the Seniorosity® team and supported by Rudolph’s Bakeries, this initiative reflects our shared commitment to supporting local communities and helping families facing food insecurity.

Creativity Meets Generosity

Seasons St. Catharines residents displayed their talents during the first annual Seniorosity® auction, raising $3,600 for the Parkinson’s Rehab Program at Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. From handcrafted art to cozy blankets and gift baskets, this event was a true community effort—complete with resident Derrick as auctioneer!

Knitting Kindness

Residents and team members at Seasons St. Thomas joined forces to craft comfort for families in need. The knitting club created and donated over twenty handmade blankets to Ronald McDonald House Charities London House, offering warmth and care to families with seriously ill children. These gatherings were about more than knitting—they were about collectively giving back.

Cars, Coffee, and Connection

Seasons Stoney Creek’s “Cars & Coffee” event brought residents, neighbours, and car enthusiasts together for a morning of nostalgia and conversation. Over twenty-five classic and custom cars were on display—including a sleek black Lamborghini! Residents shared stories sparked by these stunning vehicles, proving that passions can create powerful connections.

Driving Community Spirit

Fifty vintage and classic vehicles rolled into Seasons Strathroy’s annual Car Show Fundraiser, raising $940 for Strathroy Hospice. Residents, families, and team members enjoyed a day of connection, complete with a community BBQ and a special drive-by so every resident could experience the sights and sounds.

Coming Together for Compassion

Seasons Welland’s residents and team members teamed up with the Welland Professional Firefighters Association for a fundraiser benefiting Hospice Niagara. Guests enjoyed delicious food, live music, and an intergenerational mix as firefighters brought their families along. Together, we raised $1,227 to support compassionate care during life’s most challenging moments.

Love Blooms

Seasons Wesbrook Village residents Gail and Derek’s story began in the dining room in 2023—and two years later, they celebrated their wedding surrounded by family, friends, and fellow residents. From shared meals to joyful engagement, their journey reflects the magic of meaningful connection and the warmth that makes Seasons so special.

Company-wide Wellness

From May to August, 385 team members across Seasons joined our “On the Road to Wellness” challenge, virtually traveling through beautiful British Columbia. Together, 23 teams and 134 participants combined completed the full course route—an incredible testament to teamwork and our continued commitment to health and well-being.

Where Community Comes to Life

These moments are just a snapshot of the joy and purpose that define Seasons. For residents, it is a promise of meaningful experiences and treasured friendships. For team members, it is an opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact every day. We create communities where people feel valued, supported, and celebrated—because at Seasons, we believe that life is better when shared together.
