Seasons Sets Students on the Path of Career Success

Seasons retirement team members

Seasons Retirement Communities has developed a culture rooted in their company vision Connect, Care, Change®. Seasons believes that when they genuinely connect with and care about their residents, they can positively change their lives and, in turn, their staff. Recruiting for right-fit talent is integral in attracting individuals; Seasons seeks empathy and transferable skills, then mentors and develops those who may have yet to gain years of experience but possess the attributes to deliver on their core mission, vision, and values. Team members benefit from the coaching, investment, and training to build their skills and support their journey and growth.

Seasons has developed strong partnerships with academic institutions. These collaborative relationships for research contribute positively to the quality of life of seniors and the discovery of innovations in our field. The initiative has grown exponentially into a robust program offering experiential learning for college and university students. We have been making substantial headway in bringing exposure to our sector to the youth of Canada and, through this, contributing to eradicating the stigma around retirement homes and ageism.

This is more than just a job. Team members are passionate and dedicated and thrive on having fun together while working. Whether you are interested in care, dining, recreation, sales, or environmental services, Seasons has full and part-time positions available. The company was certified as a Great Place to Work® for the fourth consecutive year. They received resoundingly positive feedback from their staff, who expressed their desire to make a difference and align with Seasons’ purpose.

As young people everywhere prepare to go back to school, three of Seasons’ most recent student placements share their experiences working with the company and how they feel prepared for their future careers:

“I want to thank Seasons Clarington for the opportunity they provided me with this semester to work with the Memory Care staff. This placement has put me in the position of working closely and interacting with a wide variety of people. It was a perfect opportunity for me to take more initiative and learn what I need to prepare myself for a potential future work environment. I have really enjoyed meeting all the residents and fellow employees and all the different aspects of this type of work. My co-op placement has made me confident that a job in nursing/healthcare would be an excellent match for my skills and interests. It has made me ambitious to succeed in school and to go places with a career in nursing. I have really developed skills such as working with others, problem-solving, teamwork and having deep emotional connections with residents by always listening to both them and management, asking questions if I’m unsure, always helping out and taking the initiative whether it’s setting up tables or helping residents to their seats. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to see everything Seasons does and the time and effort put in to make the residents feel at home and appreciated. Once again, thank you, Seasons Clarington, for all the time, dedication, and kindness you have given me during this placement. I hope our paths meet again in the future.” – Student from Seasons Clarington.

“I thank Laura at Seasons Clarington for being such a great supervisor this semester. When I decided to take this co-op placement, I had no idea I would get to interact with such great people every day! My time at Seasons has been immensely valuable and rewarding, and I am genuinely grateful for the experience. My favourite part of this semester was spending time with everyone in Memory Care every day! I have learned so much about teamwork and communication throughout my time here, which has significantly contributed to my professional and personal growth. I have also learned so much from everyone who works at Seasons, and I want to thank them all. Everyone’s dedication and passion for senior care have been truly inspiring, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from such great people. Once again, thank you for providing me with this extraordinary opportunity. The skills and experiences I have gained at Seasons will shape my future career and personal growth. I look forward to contributing to senior care in the future.” – Student from Seasons Clarington.

“I want to express my gratitude for the invaluable experience I gained during my placement at Seasons Royal Oak Village. My time there was incredibly enriching, and I am deeply thankful for the support, guidance, and mentorship the exceptional team provided. Everyone at Seasons, including the residents, was fantastic, interesting, and welcoming, making it a memorable journey. I was privileged to provide person-centred care services in Memory Care during my placement. This hands-on experience strengthened my clinical skills and deepened my passion for personal support work. I am particularly grateful to team members Alayzia, Jaspreet, and Lori for their patience, professionalism, and willingness to share their knowledge and expertise with me. Their guidance was instrumental in helping me navigate the challenges and complexities. The professionalism, teamwork, and compassion I witnessed at Seasons Royal Oak Village have left a lasting impression on me. I genuinely appreciate the positive work environment and the commitment to enhancing the well-being of its residents. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with Seasons Royal Oak Village again in the future. Please accept my heartfelt thanks again for the exceptional placement experience and for believing in my potential.” – Student from Seasons Royal Oak Village.
