We have exciting news to share regarding upcoming changes at both Seasons Drayton Valley and Seasons Ponoka Retirement Communities.

After thorough review and consideration of current and future needs, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has awarded Seasons Retirement Communities the opportunity to convert our existing Supportive Living 3 (SL3) designation to a Supportive Living 4 (SL4) designation, effective May 1, 2021. Doing so will bring a needed level of enhanced continuing care to both communities that will help meet the needs of residents now and in the future.

In both communities, there is a demand for SL4 care options. By converting our current operations, we have the opportunity to support more residents and local seniors in receiving the proper care in the right place, without having to move out of the community they love.

Supportive Living Level 4 provides a higher level of personal care supports and healthcare services for those with more complex medical needs. In addition to Health Care Aides, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide care onsite 24-7 for residents.

Converting to an SL4 designation will not impact any of our current SL3 or Independent Living residents at either Seasons Drayton Valley or Seasons Ponoka. All current services and care will continue uninterrupted. Should your care needs change in the future, you will now have the option to receive the additional services you need right here in your home at Seasons.

There will also be no impact on our current staff in either residence, all of whom will continue to be valued members of our care teams. With the change to the SL4 designation, we will expand employment opportunities to other healthcare professionals, thus growing our teams and supporting our local economies. As new positions are approved and posted, existing staff will have the chance to apply if they wish. We will continue to work closely with our staff and union partners to keep them informed as this redesignation progresses.

We want to take this time to thank AHS for its continued support and partnership. Our ongoing collaboration benefits our residents, local seniors and our staff.
