December 26, 2020
Hello everyone,
This is to inform you of an emerging situation. We were recently informed that a resident who returned from the hospital, has tested positive for COVID-19. This resident was in isolation with droplet precaution as per our protocol upon their return; however, our home has been placed in outbreak status.
Please rest assured that the health and safety of all our staff and residents continue to be our highest priority. We are working closely with Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) Medical Officer of Health, Infection Prevention and Control, and Home Care to ensure the safety of all residents and staff.
Seasons has begun contract tracing and we will work directly with individuals who may be considered to have had close contact. All team members are requested to book an appointment for prevalence testing at the local assessment centre as soon as possible. AHS is currently coordinating prevalence testing for all residents to begin today.
We are requesting that residents remain on our premises and only leave for essential medical needs only. In an abundance of caution, residents are asked to isolate themselves in the comfort of their suites. This means residents will receive their twice-daily temperature and wellness checks, activities and all meals to their suites. Visits will not be permitted during this time. Any requests for access to the home by an essential designated caregiver will need to be requested and approved in advance by Seasons Wetaskiwin and Public Health.
At this time, we encourage you to keep in touch with your loved one via phone, text or email. Our team members are more than happy to discuss alternative options to connect with your loved ones.
As always, all team members are asked to self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure risk using our screening tool before reporting to a site for their shift. Anyone with symptoms is required to connect with their Service Team Leader immediately.
We will continue to be transparent with all of you as we continue to monitor this situation closely. Thank you for the trust you have placed in Seasons Retirement Communities. We take our responsibility very seriously and will continue to make decisions with our staff and residents’ health and safety in mind.
Sincerely,
LeighAnne Voll
