December 23, 2020
I have wonderful news to share with you all: Hastings Prince Edward Public Health just declared the outbreak at Seasons Dufferin Centre to be over.
Thank you to our dedicated team members for your commitment to our residents. I know this was a challenging time and I appreciate how you handled this situation swiftly with skill and grace under pressure. Residents and families, we thank you for your cooperation and support throughout the outbreak.
While we are thankful that the outbreak is over, our work fighting COVID-19 is not.
As of December 26th Trenton will be part of the provincial grey zone lockdown. Regardless of the zone, you reside in today, the provincial government has been encouraging all Ontarians to refrain from social gatherings with anyone outside of their household. As residents of Seasons Dufferin Centre Retirement Community, our residence is effectively your “household”. Despite being told not to, people are travelling between zones, compromising your local community and potentially the people you come into contact with, should you leave our home.
While you have the right to assess your own level of risk and leave our premises as you see fit when you come home you return to a congregate setting, full of potentially vulnerable neighbours. We know that symptoms of the virus can take anywhere from 5 – 7 days to present themselves. If you have free, unfettered access to our dining room, amenity areas and small group activities, you could very easily spread the virus to others unknowingly.
Staff, residents and families I implore you, please maintain your vigilance. We just got out of outbreak, we do not want to experience another one. Wishing all of you a safe and happy holiday season, and good health in 2021.
Chief Operating Officer,
