Celebrating Canada virtually this year

canadian-flag-blog-2 (1)

Many Canadians are continuing to celebrate Canada Day virtually this year; it’s a time to celebrate the good our country stands for while recognizing the work we still have to do to make Canada a strong and inclusive place for everyone.

That said, this month is a great opportunity to discover some of the best Canadian attractions without having to leave the comfort of home. Many hotspots have made their landmarks, exhibits, and even animals available for online viewing. Here are some of the most popular:

1. Museums

A number of museums have made their exhibits available online, including the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Users can search this website to find a museum related to what they like depending on their interests. The ROM has an extensive collection of more than 45,000 objects viewable through its online archive.

2. Zoos

Canadian wildlife is a popular attraction for tourists and residents alike. Many zoos and aquariums around the country are putting their animals on display for everyone to enjoy from a distance, including the Calgary Zoo and Toronto Zoo. When visiting, make sure to check out the Canadian wildlife sections to see bears, moose, raccoons, and more.

3. National Parks

Canada is also well-known for its beautiful scenery. Banff National Park offers a wide variety of videos touring one of the country’s oldest parks. You can take a virtual hike and even take in a 360-degree view. Parks Canada also offers panoramic views of several other locations throughout Canada, From the arctic deserts of Quttinirpaaq to the sand dunes of Prince Edward Island.

Celebrating at Seasons

At Seasons Retirement Communities, our team members are always looking for safe and creative ways to ensure our residents are having fun! For example, Seasons Camrose has been touring the globe virtually this summer. Each event offers food, scenery, and entertainment from the destination. Residents are also encouraged to share stories of their past travel experiences with each other.

“While most Seasons Camrose residents are vaccinated, travel restrictions are still in place. We wanted to provide residents with a fun alternative that can be enjoyed safely from the comfort of home,” said Norma, the Fun Manager at Seasons Camrose.
